First off, I should tell you we are still getting things updated and moved over from our “brand” change. In 2011, a few months after a miscarriage I started blogging. It began as a way to work through that pain and a deepening of my faith. This miscarriage focused blog was named Holding Our Hope.
Holding Our Hope
I have pages and pages written. I’ve shared a few, revised a few and and still trying to decide what direction I’d like to go in. When I was going through this there were so few candid stories. I do feel this needs to be talked about.
This will most likely be an upcoming series or a short eBook. In either case, it is a subject close to my heart and that is the make-up of our family.
Your Thriving Family
I quickly found many women of like experiences and interests all over the “blogosphere”. This helped me expand what I was writing and how I was caring for my family. I finally came up with a blog called Your Thriving Family.
I wanted to focus on intentional and natural living – a way to help your family thrive. Unfortunately we have been through many hard times in the last few years. We have very much been in survival mode. And the “Thriving” part, though I wanted to be true, was just not descriptive of our lives. This did not ring true anymore.
The Nutter Tree
The Nutter Tree, came about in a few parts. I have always loved the symbolism of trees. Deep roots that we can’t see. The seasons of flourishing leaves and of bare branches. The connectivity of all the pieces that make it up. It speaks so loudly of family to me.
The “Nutter” part is because of my hubby. Coming from his world of Wonder Bread, junk food and OTC meds – I seem like a nut sometimes. I was raised with a few home remedies, a Japanese chiropractor – who we saw much more often than the MD and for lack of money – very few junk foods.
So he lovingly, started referring to me as “his Nutter”. I am sure he still thinks I am crazy when it comes to a few things. But I am doing the best I know how to for our kids and him.
Here you will find lots of recipes that are tried and true from our family’s kitchen. We also have The Veggie Book for you to try, yet again, to get your family to eat more veggies! You can also find it on Kindle.
All four of my kiddos were birthed with no medication. My Boys were born in the same birthing center, in the same room, on the same birthing stool. Then after moving to Texas, our bonus baby was able to be born via a water birth.
I am our family’s first doctor. You will only find me going to the MD after my home remedies and chiropractic care has not kicked the “bad germies”. Thus you will find me sharing a lot of what I do for my family – but I am not a doctor, so this is just for entertainment. Thank the FDA for that statement.
I grew up in a Christian family, one that attended services multiple times a week. My formative years were spent in a very controlling religious environment. This led to me greatly questioning and ultimately leaving the church and God.
Through my time “away”, much of it in England for school, I lived with “no regrets”. For things done or undone. I believe this, and God, helped keep me safe from life altering mistakes.
I ultimately returned to a grace-filled God. And was rooted in my own faith, not one inherited from my family.
This of course governs may aspects of my life. My world-view and the decisions I make. So at times you will see faith-based posts and even some eBooks. We also have many secular, gnostic and atheist readers as well – take and leave what you will.
