I’ve tried all sorts of things for my little ones eczema. So far Essential Oils has been the thing that’s helped the most. My eldest has had great looking skin for the last couple years since switching our laundry soap. My preschooler hasn’t had any issues except for all those scrapes and cuts little boys get. But the baby seems to have his Sissy’s sensitive skin.
Since then I have been making a lot of our personal care items, like some Essential Oil Medicated Lotion. And I find it so much easier to attack the scrapes, dry skin and other owies with an applicator. This makes it much cleaner and easier to take on the go!
I used a hard lotion recipe of Shea Butter, Virgin Coconut Oil, Beeswax and Jojoba Oil then added Lavender, Rose Hip, Neem, and Melaleuca Essential Oils. These butter, beeswax and oil all promote moisture and healing. Essential oils heal and soothe irritated skin. And as a bonus you can use this as a lip balm in a pinch.
To make, melt the following in a glass double boiler (measure by weight). Allow to cool slightly before adding essential oils (measure by volume), them fill you choice of container.
- 2 oz beeswax
- 3 ½ oz virgin coconut oil (use virgin not expeller pressed, this contains better healing properties)
- 6 2/3 oz shea butter
- ½ oz jojoba
- 1 tsp lavender
- ½ tsp rose hip oil
- ¼ tsp neem oil
- ¼ tsp melaleuca oil
When I got started I slowly bought a few ingredients each month (sometimes only one per month). If you have the money to do it all at once, great! If not, slowly build up your supply, in the meantime you can purchase some here!
This is exactly what I use on my kiddos! I’ve just started making larger batches so I can share it all with you. Shipping is $2.24 and I am selling 3 tubes for $8 (a standard lip balm tube). I do have a few of the 3oz. pots, also for $10, if you would rather have that, just email me to let me know (the shipping would be more).
